Word broke this afternoon that "0-For-Auburn" Urban Meyer is stepping down as Florida's head coach for the second time in less than a year. Florida has a press conference scheduled for 5PM today.
In possibly-related news, Brett Favre has filed a lawsuit against Meyer charging "trademark infringement."

Maybe he figured one more season like this one and he gets fired?
I am sure he finds succor in "I won more national titles in 6 years than Auburn has won in its entire football history"
Call me back the next time he goes undefeated, Grid.
Oh, right, that'll be never.
Will do. And you would trade all of the undefeated seasons Auburn has collected for just.one.more national title
No, you're entirely wrong about that. Don't confuse me with bammies who worship at the altar of the Associated Press, et. al. I've scoffed the bogus "championship" system for 30 years, not unlike Mergz from Saurian Sagacity (RIP). Nice awards to get--I'll certainly enjoy the one we're picking up in January--but no more meaningful to me than the 1983, 1993 or 2004 seasons.
Here's Mergz's take, mine is back in the archives here, and very similar.
So no, sorry, 0-For-Auburn Urban's "championships" aren't a trump card on my table.
So no doubt we will not read of any crowing after Auburn beat Oregon. Because, you know, the championship is bogus
You certainly will not see me crowing about any "national championship." I've never used that term for anything other than mockery in over 20 years of writing about college football (go check my book if you don't believe me).
Whether Auburn happens involved or not, that term always has been and (sans a playoff) always will be a crock.
