Why? Not everyone has the money to attend out-of-state.

But then, since half of Georgia occupies the Plains, I guess the nouveau riche have to waste their cash somehow.Wes Wolfehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06549148529701278476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29066645.post-4539081570338909562007-05-17T01:15:00.000-04:002007-05-17T01:15:00.000-04:00The flat irony of someone who supports a school wh...The flat irony of someone who supports a school where so many students live in trailer parks calling Alabama redneck is simply amazing.Wes Wolfehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06549148529701278476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29066645.post-60583838432752071362007-03-27T11:29:00.000-04:002007-03-27T11:29:00.000-04:00This reminds me of an aquaintance of mine from the...This reminds me of an aquaintance of mine from the early 80s. At the time I was working for a "Major Retail" company in Columbus, MS, slowly climbing the retail corporate ladder. I graduated from Auburn in '76 with a degree in Personnel Management, so I was actually using my degree.
We received word that we would get a new auto department manager from Montgomery, AL. Upon his arrival and introduction, it was learned that he was a native of Montgomery and had lived there all of his life. He attended only junior college and vocational school for auto mechanics (which is fine if you are going to work on autos). He was a rabid Alabama Football Fan. He did not care for basketball, baseball, or softball or any or the other so called minor sports. This struck me as some what odd since the first time he had ever been to, or for that matter through Tuscaloosa, was the day he moved to Columbus, MS. He probably couldn't find T-town on a map unless it had a picture of the Bear on it to guide him to glorius city.

On another note, however, at a later time in my career, I had the "pleasure" to work in Tuscaloosa for almost four years (we won all the football games and most of the basketball and baseball games those years). While there I worked with a friend from my hometown who had been a life-time Alabama fan, yet once again did not attend UAT, he went to Miss. State. I guess his grades were too good to get in to 'bama, huh?
These are just two examples of instances I've encountered in the past thirty years; there are many, many more.
Godspeed and War Eagle!!!smokinQ72https://www.blogger.com/profile/05821242512855996366noreply@blogger.com
